The World of Tane Mahuta
From a seed a sapling grew
Through the roots flowed sustenance from Papatuanuku (Mother Earth)
Through the leaves, came the breath of Ranginui (Sky Father)
A Korowai (Precious Cloak) covered mother earth to
nurture our physical and spiritual well being
From sunrise to sunrise, Tane watches over this treasure in Aotearoa a country of physical beauty and mystery, a land cloaked with trees
New species have joined the tree whanau of Tane and
flourish in the land he brought light to
The forest has a mystique and uniqueness for those who value and work in it
Potential abounds within the world of Tane Mahuta
So does the resolve to balance social, economic and environmental
challenges relating to that world
The children of Tane Mahuta are our Taonga, our strength and our future. We can add wealth to that precious resource by increasing our learning
